Goals, Show Up and Follow Up
If I was to meet up with my 18-year-old self for a coffee today, there are two pieces of advice I would offer: Set yourself goals, but then show up and follow up.
Setting goals is important to help you progress, build confidence and get to where you want to be in life. However, this is only part of it. It is important to have goals, but then you have to go and put them into action.
80% of life is showing up. Ideas alone won’t bring success, you have to act on them. Don’t waste time getting ready and just go for it. Thinking in terms of now gets things accomplished.
The other 20% is in the follow up. Conditions will never be perfect to put your goals into action, so you just have to go for it. Take it step-by-step and deal with the challenges when you come to them.
What advice would you offer to your 18-year-old self?
I will be hosting a Live Podcast to celebrate What I Know Now’s 1 year anniversary on Thursday 28 September at at the Hamilton Bulding in Trinity College Dublin. Find out more info and sign up to attend for FREE at this link. Hope to see you there.
