“Always work in a decent place”

If Bobby Kerr, chairman of the Insomnia Coffee Chain could offer one piece of advice to his 18-year-old self, he would tell him to try to get a job with a successful company.

He would tell his younger self to try get a job with a company that sets really high standards, such as treating their workforce with respect and who are always expanding.

Don’t doubt yourself that you are not good enough to work for such a successful company. You are what you think you are. If you have the belief, then you should go for it.

If you manage to get a job in a highly successful organisation, it is because you have worked hard to get there. Do a good job there and the rest will fall into place.

Goals help get the best out of you and if you set yourself high standards to work with such a highly reputable company, then you will be motivated to work hard and achieve that target.

What advice would you share with your 18-year-old self?
