“Every single day be prepared to learn something new”

If business mentor and success coach Pat Slattery could meet up with his 18-year-old self for a coffee this afternoon, he would tell him to listen and learn something new every day.

Some 18-year-old’s might think they know it all, but the fact is you don’t know it all. There is still so much more you can learn. You can even learn so much from the people you meet, so listen to what they have to say.

Don’t listen with the intention of responding, but instead listen attentively to what they have to say. Listen to the advice they offer you and there will be a time that you will put their advice into action.

You can learn so much from the conversations you have with other people. Listen to their advice and it could be the key ingredient to help you become successful.

Another piece of advice Pat would offer to his younger self would be to be careful who you surround yourself with. Stay away from the negativity and surround yourself with those who want to see you succeed.

What advice would you offer to your 18-year-old self?
