Welcome to episode 32 of Ask Mark, where I answer your questions about personal development to help you become the best version of yourself.
From interviewing people from all walks of life on the What I Know Now podcast, I want to share with you what I have learned from my guests by answering any questions you have about personal development, networking and building meaningful relationships. The aim of Ask Mark is to help you achieve your goals sooner and stand on the shoulders of giants.
I would love to hear your questions so please fill out the form or record your question at wikn.co/askmark. You can also drop me a message in the comments box or on social media in the links below.
Now sit back, plug in those headphones and enjoy because it is time to learn together about personal development, networking, building meaningful relationships and much more.
Today’s question comes from a listener who is getting frustrated trying to break into their desired field and I offer my advice on how you need to value the importance of a good network to further your career.
I have been working in the recruitment industry for over 10 years and the one thing that is very apparent is the importance of a good network to furthering your career.
People can get very frustrated when they do not get the opportunities they believe they deserve but a lot of it is not what you know, it is who you know.
My advice is to attend industry events, join associations within your company, do some volunteer work or even get a mentor. You need to put yourself out there, build new relationships but remember 90% of networking is in the follow-up.
