Welcome to episode 46 of Ask Mark, where I answer your questions about personal development to help you become the best version of yourself.
From interviewing people from all walks of life on the What I Know Now podcast, I want to share with you what I have learned from my guests by answering any questions you have about personal development, networking and building meaningful relationships. The aim of Ask Mark is to help you achieve your goals sooner and stand on the shoulders of giants.
I would love to hear your questions so please head to wikn.co/askmark where you can either fill out the form or record your question for me. You can also drop me your questions in the comments box or on social media in the links below.
Now sit back, plug in those headphones and enjoy because it is time to learn together about personal development, networking, building meaningful relationships and much more.
On today’s episode, I answer a question from a listener who feels they are putting time and time into networking with nothing to show for it and I offer three tips to help you make it more effective.
If you are going to events and you feel you are getting nothing from them, then you have to ask yourself: “How much preparation am I doing and how much do I follow up?” Preparation and the follow up are crucial.
To help you get more out of networking, the first thing you need to do is evaluate your contacts. Look through your contacts and see who can help you achieve your goals. However, you also need to discover how you can help them.
The second piece of advice is to always get a second meeting. The hard part is the introduction, but the follow up is much easier. Remember to set out your reasons for why you want to follow up and what’s in it for the other person.
The final tip I would offer is to nurture your relationships. If you invest a lot of time into establishing a meaningful relationship with someone relevant to help you get closer to your goals, you will get a lot back from them.
