Welcome to episode 47 of Ask Mark, where I answer your questions about personal development to help you become the best version of yourself.
From interviewing people from all walks of life on the What I Know Now podcast, I want to share with you what I have learned from my guests by answering any questions you have about personal development, networking and building meaningful relationships. The aim of Ask Mark is to help you achieve your goals sooner and stand on the shoulders of giants.
I would love to hear your questions so please head to wikn.co/askmark where you can either fill out the form or record your question for me. You can also drop me your questions in the comments box or on social media in the links below.
Now sit back, plug in those headphones and enjoy because it is time to learn together about personal development, networking, building meaningful relationships and much more.
Today’s question comes from a listener who is not sure where to start on finding out which of their connections can be of most benefit and I offer three tips to become more organised by setting your goals to networking.
A lot of opportunities that come up in networking can be unexpected, so it is important to be focused on your goals. You need to be clear about your expectations, but you also need to add value to your network first.
There are three steps towards setting your goals for networking and the first is to have the right mindset. Networking is not a game, it is about building genuine relationships with those people who can help you achieve your goals faster.
The second thing you need to do is be clear on your destination. What is your dream job? How do you envision your future? What do you need to be doing to achieve the life you want? Write out both your long-term and short-term your goals.
The third step is to develop a what Keith Ferrazzi calls a ‘Relationship Action Plan’. Focus on 3-5 of your most important relationships, lead with generosity and you will have a purposeful networking strategy.
