Welcome to episode 50 of Ask Mark, where I answer your questions about personal development to help you become the best version of yourself.

From interviewing people from all walks of life on the What I Know Now podcast, I want to share with you what I have learned from my guests by answering any questions you have about personal development, networking and building meaningful relationships. The aim of Ask Mark is to help you achieve your goals sooner and stand on the shoulders of giants.

I would love to hear your questions so please head to wikn.co/askmark where you can either fill out the form or record your question for me. You can also drop me your questions in the comments box or on social media in the links below.

Now sit back, plug in those headphones and enjoy because it is time to learn together about personal development, networking, building meaningful relationships and much more.

Today’s question comes from a listener who is having some problems with a colleague at work and I offer three pieces of advice that you can do to help resolve the conflict.

It is inevitable that you will deal with conflict throughout your career but if you can effectively manage it rather than avoid conflict, you will generate trust and gain the respect of others around you.

The first thing you should do when managing conflict is to intervene early. Don’t put off confronting someone because the situation could get worse and have a negative impact on the team’s morale and productivity.

The second tip is to resolve the issue face-to-face. Close up which will help you understand and empathise with them. Don’t argue from across the room and definitely don’t try to solve your issues over the phone.

The third piece of advice I offer to you is to establish a clear procedure. Have a step-by-step plan for how to face disagreements when they arise and create a framework can everyone can work towards.
