In this episode, I offer advice to listeners on what to do with those business cards you got a networking event with three tips to help you nail the follow-up.

A networking event is just the starting point of building a new professional relationship, the follow up is the key to developing it. You have heard me say it before, 90% of successful networking and building meaningful relationships is in the follow up.

The first thing you should do is set up a one-on-one meeting. Send a short email saying you would love to meet up and discuss a little bit more on how you can add value to each other.

The second thing you can do is connect on social media. This way you can see if they have a birthday coming up or you can congratulate them on a new role. Even the smallest gestures can make a big difference.

The final tip is to give first and expect nothing in return. When you show an interest in others and ask questions on how you can help them, people will be attracted to you. When you add value to others, people will value you.
