Welcome to episode 53 of Ask Mark, where I answer your questions about personal development to help you become the best version of yourself.
From interviewing people from all walks of life on the What I Know Now podcast, I want to share with you what I have learned from my guests by answering any questions you have about personal development, networking and building meaningful relationships. The aim of Ask Mark is to help you achieve your goals sooner and stand on the shoulders of giants.
I would love to hear your questions so please head to wikn.co/askmark where you can either fill out the form or record your question for me. You can also drop me your questions in the comments box or on social media in the links below.
Now sit back, plug in those headphones and enjoy because it is time to learn together about personal development, networking, building meaningful relationships and much more.
In this episode, I answer a question from a listener who feels they need to change their approach to get more from networking and I offer three tips to help you get in the right mindset for building meaningful relationships.
The key to networking is to approach it with an authentic mindset of service to others. It’s not all about you. You need to help the other person first and find out where you can add value to them.
The first thing you need to do to gain the right mindset is to throw your personal agenda out the window. Instead, be the one who takes an interest in other people and see how you can assist them first.
The second piece of advice is to listen with genuine interest. When you truly listen, you will be able to respond with something that will interest the other person and offer a few ideas that you believe you can help them with.
The final tip is to lead with generosity. To build a strong network, your mindset should be focused on initiating relationships with authenticity and generosity. If you get this right, you will start to build a lasting and meaningful relationship.
