Now sit back, plug in those headphones and enjoy because it is time to learn together about personal development, networking, building meaningful relationships and much more.

In this episode of Ask Mark, I offer listeners three pieces of advice on how you can use social media to connect with professionals and grow your network online.

Networking through social media is a great way to build up your professional contacts and grow your digital network, but remember that the usual networking methods such as attending conferences still apply.

To network effectively using social media, you must be active online. Interact with other people’s tweets, Facebook posts and LinkedIn updates. You also need to post some of your own content, but make sure it is something that adds value.

The second thing is that social media helps you maintain your professional relationships. Social media is a great way to keep in touch by liking others posts and sharing their content. They may be small gestures, but they can have a big impact.

The final piece of advice is to identify leaders and organisations. Connect with leaders in your niche, but be clear about why you want to connect and make sure to make it about how you can help them.
