Welcome to episode 66 of Ask Mark, where I answer your questions about personal development to help you become the best version of yourself.
From interviewing people from all walks of life on the What I Know Now podcast, I want to share with you what I have learned from my guests by answering any questions you have about personal development, networking and building meaningful relationships. The aim of Ask Mark is to help you achieve your goals sooner and stand on the shoulders of giants.
I would love to hear your questions so please head to wikn.co/askmark where you can either fill out the form or record your question for me. You can also drop me your questions in the comments box or on social media in the links below.
Now sit back, plug in those headphones and enjoy because it is time to learn together about personal development, networking, building meaningful relationships and much more.
In today’s episode, I am going to offer you three pieces of advice that will help you develop rapport with your contacts and build more meaningful relationships.
The first step in any relationship building is to establish a level of rapport. It will be an investment of time and effort but once someone feels connected with you they will naturally want to find out more about what you do and help you in the long-run.
The first piece of advice is to be friendly. Stop worrying about forgetting their name or how you’re dressed and just be genuine. That is the foundation of a good relationship and all it requires of you is a bit of bravery and a big smile.
The second thing is to focus on the other person’s needs. You’ll have more success building lasting connections if you start by focusing on the other person’s needs. Give them the stage and explore what they are looking for.
The third and final tip is to ask open-ended questions. When you ask them open questions and are showing an interest in them, as a result they will find you interesting and will then want to learn more about you.
