Most mentor relationships are a waste of time. On this episode of Mark’s Daily Discoveries, I share four characteristics you need to have a meaningful relationship with a mentor.

The first thing you need is intimacy or vulnerability. You need to have transparent and honest conversations with them. Take off the armour and tell them exactly how you feel.

The second piece of advice is to lead with generosity. If you really want your mentor to help you become successful, you need to be generous with your time and resources.

The third thing is to have 100% candour in your conversations and give honest feedback. The final tip is to be held accountable. You need someone to kick you in the ass if you don’t achieve what you set out to do.

If you want to have a successful relationship with your mentor and be 100% focused on achieving your goals, you need to put these four pieces of advice into action.
