In this episode of Mark’s Daily Discoveries, I offer advice that when you have a relationship with a mentor, you need to earn the right for that person to continue to help you.

When you have someone that is giving you advice and helping you out, you have to earn the right for that person to continue to help develop you and to give you feedback. Never take it for granted.

To earn that right, you need to seek out how you can help them as well. If you give them advice in return, ask questions and lead with generosity then that person will want to spend more time with you.

Another piece of advice I would offer is to have a variety of mentors. It is important to have a complete overview of the world around you because they can help you work out what your blind spots are.

The final thing I would say is to seek out feedback all the time and use it to help yourself continue to grow. If you put these into action when working with mentors, you can achieve your goals ten times faster.
